Dallas Cowboys vs New York Giants; 10 thoughts on the 20-15 win |
The
Dallas Cowboys narrowly defeated the New York Giants 20-15 on Thursday night,
with Dak Prescott continuing his dominance over the NFC East rivals. Despite
the Cowboys not being at their best, Prescott extended his winning streak
against the Giants to 13 consecutive games as the starting quarterback.
In
a match riddled with penalties and missed opportunities, the Cowboys managed to
snap their two-game losing streak, improving their record to 2-2, while the
Giants dropped to 1-3. The game was a defensive battle, as both teams struggled
to capitalise on offensive drives.
Dallas'
defence, which had been ranked last in rush defence and near the bottom in
points allowed, stepped up significantly. They limited the Giants to just 26
rushing yards, a stark contrast to their previous games where they were
outperformed by the Saints and Ravens.
Brandon
Aubrey, the Cowboys' kicker, had a mixed night. While he successfully nailed a
60-yard field goal, he missed a 51-yarder, giving the Giants a final
opportunity with 28 seconds remaining. However, New York’s offence failed to
find the end zone, settling for five field goals from Greg Joseph, with drives
ending at the Dallas 34, 22, 20, 3, and 24-yard lines.

Thursday Night Football; Cowboys hold on for 20-15 win over Giants |
Dak
Prescott put on a solid performance, completing 22 of 27 passes for 221 yards
and two touchdowns. His key plays included a 15-yard touchdown pass to Rico
Dowdle and a 55-yard strike to CeeDee Lamb, who finished with seven catches for
98 yards and three rushes for 8 yards.
On
the Giants' side, quarterback Daniel Jones threw for 281 yards, completing 29
of 40 passes, but his efforts weren’t enough. Jones also threw a late-game
interception to Amani Oruwariye with just five seconds on the clock, sealing
the Giants' defeat. Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers had an impressive night,
catching 12 passes for 115 yards before exiting with a concussion late in the
game.
The
Cowboys' defence faced setbacks with injuries to star defensive ends DeMarcus
Lawrence and Micah Parsons. Penalties were also a significant factor, with
Dallas committing 11 for 89 yards, while the Giants had four for 35 yards,
including a facemask penalty that went uncalled against Cowboys linebacker
DeMarvion Overshown.
Despite the challenges, Prescott's Cowboys once again triumphed over the Giants, continuing their remarkable winning streak in this NFC East rivalry.
